Climate
The most prevalent characteristic of the climate in Greece is the ever present sunshine. There are more than 3000 sun hours per year. The heat in the summer can be strong, especially in the southern islands, with water temperatures reaching 25 to 28 °C.
Greece enjoys mild winters and very hot, dry summers cooled by seasonal breezes known as 'meltemia'.

The Greek Ionian Islands are made up of seven beautiful islands : Corfu, Kefallonia, Zakynthos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Paxi and Kythera. Slightly further along are the islands of Corfu and Zakinthos. These islands hold the reputation as the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean !  With a little more rain in spring than most other parts of Greece, these islands have a mild climate and lush vegetation. The Ionian is one of the most important areas for luxury yacht charter in the east Mediterranean.

Navigation is by line of sight and a passage between islands is only a few hours in duration. The islands are attractive and steeped in Greek mythology.

The Venetian domination of the Ionian Islands certainly made its mark both in terms of a strongly class differentiated society and through the development of commerce, the arts and crafts. Today the ionian islands are cosmopolitan and welcome a large number of tourists each year, thanks to the unequaled natural beauty, especially with Smugglers Cove and the Blue Grotto which can only be accessed by sea.
